In a silent night, a little girl ventures into the next room to see what the newcomer is like. Her name is Deda, and she absolutely didn’t want this adventurer, a guest in her own house.

Deda is an avid explorer who collects bits of the world in her nesting doll boxes. They are small treasures to learn about and name the world. She gathers and stores them with meticulous care to play with whenever she wants, to play with them alone. The newcomer is named Nana, and she knows nothing of the outside world. She knows only what she can see and touch. She doesn’t yet have the words to describe what she is slowly discovering.

Her world is here, it is now, and it is as small as a walnut shell, like a blooming rose.

In a star-filled night, Nana and Deda, both frightened and drawn to each other, share…

storms and horses, swings and boats, underwater spaces and dancing carillons. But neither is willing to share their mother’s love: “She’s mine!” “No, she’s mine!” In a night full of stars and silence, Nana and Deda meet, clash, stumble in the fear of growing up, get scared, discover, and recognize each other in the courage to move on.
