SIAMO MOLTITUDINI: Bacteria, symbiosis, and the life we don’t see

Introducing the new frontier of life: the microbiota. That ecosystem of bacteria, fungi, moulds and even viruses, that jungle in constant balance with our body and the environment, our gut brain, the source of our emotions. A story that goes back billions of years. Bacteria and viruses have always been around and have intertwined with plants, animals and fungi.

Unfortunately, they have a bad reputation… these days we have all become more suspicious.

BUT

The microbiota reminds us that life is a collection of symbiosis between different entities, everything is interconnected. We see this in our bodies, between bacteria and fish, between the Amazon and the Sahara, in every living organism. Even galaxies are interconnected! And bacteria, which are the cooks of life, probably our puppeteers, we don’t even thank them in the morning! We Are Multitudes is the second chapter of the Altri Mondi Bike Tour theatre project: a playful scientific dissemination that has taken theatre on a 2,000 km bike ride, learning about good environmental practices, visiting cities from northern to southern Italy, and performing in theatrical and unconventional spaces.

Siamo Moltitudini (We Are Multitudes) is a visionary narrative that shows us, with scientific evidence, how we could learn to collaborate instead of fighting pointlessly.
