Paul Knieriem

Paul Knieriem graduated from the Amsterdam School of Directing in 2007. He is director of the Toneelschuur and the youth theatre company De Toneelmakerij. In 2019 he succeeds Liesbeth Coltof as artistic director of De Toneelmakerij.

His previous productions with Toneelschuur Productions were: Leonce and Lena, Szymborska! (co-production Theaterzaken Via Rudolphi), Am Ziel, for which Marlies Heuer won the Theo d’Or 2012 as best female lead and which was selected for the Het Theatre Festival 2012, With my father in bed (because of the circumstances) which was selected for Het Nederlands Theatre Festival 2014 and at the international festival “New plays from Europe” in Wiesbaden, René van ‘t Hof was nominated for the Louis d’Or. In 2014, Paul Schijn directed Bedriegt. In autumn 2016, he directed Koos Terpstra’s Troje Trilogy, which was also selected for the Nederlands Theatre Festival. Janneke Remmers and Keja Klaasje Kwestro were nominated for Theo d’Or and Colombina respectively for their roles in this production. Last season they continued their collaboration with René van’t Hof with De Huisbewaarder, Harold Pinter’s classic.
