In Japan, it is said that the gods grant a wish to anyone who makes 1,000 origami cranes. In a world where human beings, for an unspecified reason, can no longer go outside, an illustrator, who lives in a rather dark workshop heated by a small stove, decides to burn all his drawings and go outside. While he is dressing, after the fire ritual, a little bird is born from the flames and starts flying around the room. But the man, already outside, unaware of the creature, stops the door behind him, closes his eyes dazzled by the sun, and, in a breath, disappears.
“Animati in Video” is a contest aimed at figure theatre artists and companies, promoted by the International Puppet and Figure Theatre Festival “Arrivano dal Mare!” in cooperation with five other Italian figure theatre festivals. The theme of the 2021 edition was “the four elements and the spheres of the human”.
