Teatro Necessario was born in Parma in 2001 and for more than 20 years has been passionately pursuing an intense activity of production and promotion, dissemination and programming of contemporary circus and urban theater. Since 2022, the association has promoted TNC – Teatro Necessario Circo: one of the Italian Contemporary Circus Production Centers recognized by the Ministry of Culture. TN is a popular and refined circus, fun, light, never banal, which makes use of codes and registers capable of opening up to a broadly inclusive communication, which is why TN’s creations are widely exported abroad and have taken part in to the most important Italian and international showcases.
Tutti Matti per Colorno is the international festival of contemporary circus, theater and music that every year between the end of August and the beginning of September transforms the town of Colorno – located just few kilometers from Parma – into the capital of the international contemporary circus: an awaited appointment with talent and creativity of artists from all over the world. Designed by the artistic direction of Teatro Necessario, it is housed in the fascinating scenery of the Ducal Palace, its courtyard and garden, and the alleys that surround it.
The Grandet Douglas Company was founded in 2016 by Julien Lett, trained at the Nancy Conservatory, where he graduated in dramatic arts after following a musical course in piano. In 2006 and with the Théâtre de la Toupine, he created Bestiaire Alpin, he creates a magnificent carousel of woods found in the Alps. The carousel is made of handcrafted wooden animals which children can ride. Beside the carousel, a pianist plays his piano. This is where the idea of integrating a piano into a carousel was born. Julien is also a former actor of the La Chouing company, with which he has played various roles in various productions.
