MZ is an ‘off’ programme, curated by Monica Colella, within SEGNI Festival dedicated to cultural experiences closely connected to the places where it takes place. Right from the start it introduced innovations such as the first ‘sleep concert’ realised in Mantua, an eight-hour live performance of ambient electronic music played live in a converted city space: wearing sleeping bags, the audience spent the night together sharing emotions and waking dreams. MZ also organised the exploration of ‘inaudible’ sound: the research involved finding, through devices, those frequencies that the human ear cannot hear, but which do not exist! An entire neighbourhood ‘mapped’ by transgenerational groups in search of the most fascinating hidden frequencies. And again, like the ‘Plantasia’ concert performed inside a nursery for the real audience of the composition: the plants.
